AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Pacific Academy continues its commitment to providing an after school program that is not only engaging, but will help to enhance your child’s education by expanding their knowledge in a variety of fascinating subjects. 

Our After School Program begins promptly at 3:45 pm &  finishes at 5:45 pm (Mon., Tue., Thur., and Fri.) Wednesday’s program will begin at 12:45 pm (PA’s half day) and finishes at 5:45 pm. These extended educational opportunities are available Monday through Friday and are combined with additional homework support opportunities. 

A Holistic Approach

  • Classes are taught and supervised by PACM teachers and administrators

  • Continuation and connection of the PA philosophy and daily learning

  • Homework support strengthens students’ understanding

  • Connection to the school curriculum with more hands-on opportunities

  • A library with a good collection of English and Chinese books

At different times throughout the school year, you will find unique connections between our after-school curriculum and students’ campus life. All the programs will have a chance to showcase themselves and contribute to their learning goals.

Sports

Fitness, healthy habits, and teamwork are promoted throughout the school year. Students participate in a variety of engaging sports and fitness activities. Students build confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits while participating in fun and active learning experiences.

Sports & Fitness Activities Include (but not limited to):

  • Soccer

  • Running

  • Volleyball

  • Pickleball

  • Dodgeball

  • Obstacle Courses

Our Monday Running Club students will take part in three weekend runs during the school year—scheduled for December and May. Please contact the school office for exact dates and times.

Private preschool programs

HANDS-ON

Gardening Club - Students in Gardening Club will take care of a garden as they grow plants, do experiments, learn about irrigation, the four seasons, and more.

Jr. Chef - Students will learn the concept of farm-to-table and the science of how food is made while learning and enhancing their kitchen skills. The lessons are based on the four seasons, different holiday themes, and introduce students to foods from various cultures

Culture Club - Students will engage in hands-on learning through visual arts rooted in traditional Chinese practices and diverse global cultures throughout the year. Activities may include Chinese painting, calligraphy, paper arts.

STEAM

All Things Science® - Students will explore key areas of science through engaging, hands-on inquiry in biology, physics, and 3D printing. Through guided experiments and maker-based projects, they learn to observe, test ideas, and apply scientific concepts using modern tools and technology. This program strengthens problem-solving skills, builds confidence in STEM, and encourages curiosity through real-world applications of science.

Creative Art - Taught by professional artists, students will explore drawing, painting, and clay sculpting as creative outlets for expressing their ideas, thoughts, and emotions. They will focus on different themes and techniques every four weeks. Every four weeks, they will focus on new themes and techniques, creating original artwork that reflects imagination, vibrant color, and emotional depth.

 

Lego® Engineering - In this interactive, hands-on program, students will use a variety of LEGO® building systems to explore concepts in engineering, robotics, and architectural design. Through guided projects and collaborative challenges, they will strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how real-world structures and machines function.

DIY Rocketry and Engineering Club - Students will dive into the worlds of rocketry and engineering through hands-on design challenges and projects, including building and launching rockets and addressing real-world engineering problems. They will develop critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while learning core principles of technology, design, innovation, and the Lean Six Sigma framework.

MUSIC

Music Club and Lessons with Dexter Music

Dance Club - Students will learn foundational techniques, rhythm, and partner work while building confidence, coordination, and grace through engaging, structured instruction from professional dancers. This program offers a fun and expressive outlet where students can communicate emotion and creativity through movement. 

 

*Private Lessons (additional charge) - Private lessons in piano, voice, ukulele, and guitar are available through Dexter Music at an additional charge. Scheduling will be coordinated by PACM and Dexter Music, and lessons will take place during the after school program’s homework support time.

SUPPORT

Guided by PACM teachers, students complete daily homework and develop effective study skills that foster responsibility and independence. They also engage in reading from our library and participate in creative, collaborative play with their peers.

CHESS

The Chess lessons introduce students to the rules, strategies, and critical thinking skills behind each game. In Chess, students learn piece movement, checkmate concepts, and a variety of strategic approaches, with each session concluding in a friendly mini-tournament. *Chinese Chess and Mahjong may be available.

JOURNALISM

Students will discover the power of their own words in Journalism Club as they develop essential writing and communication skills through interviewing, reporting on school events, and crafting compelling stories. Their work will be published on the school newsletter, allowing them to share their unique perspectives while building a strong foundation in storytelling and journalism.
